Here comes the sun....... my first post of my first blog. I'm casting off in uncharted territory, living out of the box - out of my comfort zone - and coming home. I've picked up my camera after about a year of using my iPhone for random pictures. The iPhone takes surprisingly good pictures - but definitely doesn't have the flexibility and versatility of my Canon. It's been like having a new camera again - I get to play around with all of the settings and see what it will do. The pictures I took of this stained glass sun are cool because the pink/purple area was changing, swirling as the stained glass turned and the sun hit it. Each picture had a a new pattern in that petal. I love the light that comes in my kitchen window at sunrise - and I love how our suncatchers play with the light and how the light plays with them.
I feel like the year off from my camera was a good thing - I was missing a lot of the bigger picture of our fun times because I was behind the lens, looking for a great shot. Now I can use the camera to start bringing home images that are meaningful to me, in addition to catching those fun, cool, important family moments - I think it's a nice addition to my soul searching toolkit.
So, I'm not sure what this is going to become. It's really amazing how often now I start out without really knowing, ok with letting it unfold as it will. I am on day 2 of solitude at home - a really needed physical and emotional break from my day to day. Hoping to release for GOOD whatever it is that has settled into my back. I think I've made some good progress!! I've found it challenging to just be quiet - not read, or write, or talk to someone on the phone or listen to music. I think that's part of what I need more of - being quiet and finding quiet- 'harvesting the quiet" - I read somewhere. In order to choose and create, I need to notice, reflect before I decide what feels right to do. That's hard to do when you're not used to being quiet!! So I think day one was about noticing what it really means to be quiet. We'll see what today brings......I'm ruminating on Freedom - Emancipation - Independence on a personal level. Life is good!
